About me

Hello and welcome to my site! Choosing a celebrant is an important decision, after all you will be sharing probably one of the biggest events in your life with them. So, you will want to make sure they are the right fit for you and the type of ceremony you wish to create. Hopefully my website will give you a taster of my style and personality, but do feel free to get in touch if you want to know more.

So, a little about me to whet your appetite! I live in South East London with my husband and one-eyed wonder cat Frank! We love music and travel (especially by train!) and for the past 3 years have been following a vegan diet and are loving it.

For more and more of us, choosing the ethical option for our lifestyle is becoming increasingly important and vegan weddings are also growing in popularity. Now, you certainly don’t have to be a vegan yourself to hire me, but if having like-minded suppliers at your celebration is important to you then i’m the celebrant for you!

Why did I become a celebrant?

After twelve fantastic years working as long-haul cabin crew for British Airways, I decided a change of career was necessary (time to get more sleep!) and I found myself working as a registrar for a high profile London register office. I quickly came to realise that I love performing ceremonies and playing an important part in somebody’s special day.

I know that the role of the registrar can get a bad rap and, although I think they do a great job under often challenging conditions, there is definitely frustration with the legal restrictions within which they have to work.

So I decided the time was right to move away from those restrictions by becoming independent, while still drawing on the experience I have gained.  I have taken the positive elements of the day job, such as understanding the mechanics and choreography of a ceremony, the delivery and command of an audience, and managing the event from start to finish, and combined them with the unique, personalised ceremony constructed with you in mind.

Over the years I have participated in ceremonies in venues as varied as boats and zoos to gardens and converted churches. I have been part of Indian, African and Persian ceremonies and incorporated Jewish traditions into secular weddings. I have worked with translators and plenty of children and animals as well as appeared on a few wedding tv shows!

I am a very proud advocate of same-sex marriage, having helped marry several happy couples on the very first day it was legalised. I also converted many civil partnerships to marriage on the first day it was legal, which was another brilliant and emotional experience for so many.

Being a former registrar means I can also assist in your preparations for a legal wedding ceremony as well and ensure you receive the correct information and advice first-hand.

As well as having ceremony experience as a registrar, I have also trained with, and became a member of The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. As a member of the Fellowship, I agree to abide by the Standards of Service & Code of Ethics, giving you complete peace of mind that you are in safe hands.

My background in the travel industry also comes in useful as a celebrant. I have lived in Russia and Spain and travelled extensively, this has given me a good appreciation of different languages and cultures and although I may not be fluent in other languages I am more than happy to turn my hand to an introduction in your language of choice.

I am based in London, but very happy to receive enquiries for ceremonies throughout the UK and overseas.

Be it a wedding, a baby-naming ceremony, renewal of vows, or any event you’d like to celebrate, I look forward to meeting you and helping create your perfect ceremony.
